Ever since I’ve been featured in the TALLIA ORANGE SS2014 ad, the response and attention I’ve been getting has been both stupendous and overwhelming.
You have no idea how humble and proud I feel to see my work being recognized. It’s been a long and bumpy road, but I can honestly say, “Hard work pays off”
A few months ago Banson NYC, a full-service company devoted to creating an educational “real life” experience to inspire students to pursue their career dreams in the fashion industry invited me to take part in one of their seminars – Freaking mind-blowing right?
President and Founder Holland Grumieaux, saw the TALLIA ORANGE ad in WWD and fell in love with my blog #goME… She thought it would be fantastic for me to come and talk to her students about my experience as a fashion blogger as well as to share some of my expertise on social media.
Well, the day finally arrived! Last Wednesday, I found myself in front of 20 students from Cal State Northridge. – I get super anxious talking in front of people so needless to say I was a nervous wreck… But as soon as I started speaking fashion everything went smoothly.
I started by telling them a little bit of my background as a graphic designer, my days in the Big D and how I managed to move on my own to New York Fucking City. After that, I shared with them a list of 45 tips and things I’ve learned from being a blogger in the city; from how to approach PR companies, to how often you need to blog, to do’s and dont’s at fashion parties, to the importance of social media. – I think it went pretty well, they asked me a lot of questions (thank God) and I even got them to laugh!
If anyone can learn something from me is that if you believe in yourself and your talent you can accomplish anything you want. So I really hope I’ve inspired them to follow their dreams… whatever those are.
Thanks Banson NYC for allowing me to share a little bit of my story, I feel very honored! For all dreamers out there, don’t ever give up.
