GQ’s Best New Designers in America 2014 have been announced: M.Nii, Brooklyn Tailors, En Noir and John Elliott + Co. Most importantly, for the third year in a row, the designers partnered with Gap to create a limited-edition capsule collection.
From radical biker pants to classic, clean-cut suits, they’ve got you covered for fall. I was at the launch party several days ago, and I just couldn’t leave the store empty handed.
Here are some of my picks from the GQ for Gap 2014 collection:
Brooklyn Tailors creates top-notch menswear with slim, tailored-to-a-T silhouettes for guys who like to look sharp as well as edgy. Everyone knows that a good wool blazer is essential for fall, hence why I chose the Herringbone Blazer. – Slim and tailored fit.
Rain can be a b*tch in the city; therefore you have to gear up to fight against it. Brooklyn Tailors Field Jacket is both practical and dapper: totally water resistant and cut to fit over a suit jacket. – Well thought uh?
I’ve never heard of M.Nii before. However, I was immediately attracted to the effortless and “Beachy” feeling of the brand. Well, it turns out M.Nii was a tailor shop in Hawaii that specialized in custom trunks for serious surfers but closed in 1968. Lucky for us, it was revived in 2011 by designer John Moore, who was inspired by its easy style and commitment to durable construction.
I chose the Stripe Pocket T-Shirt first because I’m obsessed with anything red & blue, secondly because I love stripes. Finally, you can never have too many t-shirts right? – Simple yet chic, you can dress it up or down. – I like that.
The capsule collection is now available at gap.com and select Gap stores. – Hurry up because it won’t last long.
