My Blind Date Trip To Miami

Where to eat, party and sleep in Miami

All I knew when I booked my first trip to Miami was where was I going and where was staying, nothing more.  So in many ways, it felt like I was heading to a blind date. I was excited and nervous. And unlike other dates, Miami didn’t disappoint me.

I spent a week soaking up the sun and exploring the sights Miami has to offer. By the way, did you know there are Miami, Miami Beach, and South Beach? – I didn’t. Obviously, I had a lot to learn and see.

Where To Sleep

I stayed at Gaythering Hotel, Miami Beach’s only gay hotel.  Equipped with a bar, coffee shop, yoga classes, trivia nights and men only self-spa. Oh boy, I was in for a treat! I know you’re dying to hear the details of my stay, hold on, that’s coming up next.

What To Do

Head down the great pedestrian Lincoln Road Avenue to find the best places to shop and dine. Get your tan on in South Beach, enter through 12th Street to find the gorgeous male specimen in their natural habitat. Uff! What do they feed these guys? #bodygoals Worth visiting too is Key Biscayne, just a short drive over the Rickenbacker Causeway. The beaches here are breathtaking. – A real paradise.  After a long day, treat yourself to a massage by Carlos Ignacio Lacayo from Nirvana Blue. Trust me; you won’t regret it. Apart from being a hottie, his technique is fantastic. Please, keep your hands to yourself; he’s straight, taken and a professional. 😉

Where To Eat

On your way back from the “gay beach” grab a bite at La Sandwicherie. This vibrant establishment serves an array of sandwiches, baguettes, croissants, smoothies, and juices. And it’s open late. – In case you get the munchies. If you’re feeling fancy, try Doraku, right next to Lincoln Center. They have the best sushi in town, and it’s very popular among locals. For those late nights when you’re craving something but you’re too lazy to leave your hotel room, order Blocks Pizza. Their small pizza comes in a “block” divided in four and its less than five bucks (depending on the ingredients).

What To See

Your trip to Miami wouldn’t be complete without visiting the colorful design district of Wynwood. Besides the incredible street art, this neighborhood is full of hip restaurants and coffee shops. Also, why nobody told me about the amazing Art Deco architecture along Collins Ave and Ocean Drive? Pastel colors galore!
Where To Party

When my friend told me we were going to Counter Corner, a monthly queer party I didn’t know what I was getting into. A quick Instagram search showed me I needed to dress up, so I was happy I packed my pink jumpsuit. Well, this party was LIT. Drag queens, club kids, straight dudes, gay guys, everyone, is welcome here and everyone is having fun. Find it at The Corner, North Miami Ave and NW 11 Street.
