When I was a kid most of my friends dreamt of becoming a doctor, starting their own business or getting married. Unlike them, I wanted to learn English, travel, live in a foreign country and work in Fashion.
I grew up watching America’s Next Top Model, Project Runway and other fashion shows. I remember thinking: how damn cool would it be to get in the spotlight… It might have sounded cliché but you know what? I didn’t care!

I eventually made it to New York Fucking City and I can finally say I feel like I’m living the American dream, my own American dream. Little things matter a lot – from hanging out with Benjamin Mach and Michelle Franklin from Project Runway Season 11 to having drinks with Editor in Chief of Paper Magazine Mickey Boardman to having landed my first styling gig. My days in The Big Apple just keep getting better!

I’ve been in touch with photographer Thomas Synnamon on Facebook for a while now so when he was recently looking for a fashion stylist I didn’t think twice and offered my help. I’d never styled professionally; however, I always believed I had an understanding of how to style others. I collaborated with GUESS Watches (read post here) and Pose App loves my swag. Although I felt confident about “mi estilo” reaching out to Thomas made me a bit nervous!

So early in the morning last Sunday I headed to Coney Island to meet with him. The project was to shoot an editorial for Men Moments Magazine with make-up artist Bryan Feiss and Brazilian model Ricardo Baldin – my Mexican friends might recognize him as the face of Men’s Factory, Latin America’s Men’s Wearhouse equivalent. Hastag “over the moon”.
Our theme was end of summer/back to school. To create that very sleek, preppy-uptown-boy look I decided to use pieces from colorful Spanish brand Desigual (thanks Chevy from Now and Zen PR for your quick response), some rad jewelry from The Forgery and eyewear from my latest discovery ERLIK.
Unfortunately I can’t share too much with you all just yet – as I would spoil the upcoming spread – but here’s a sneak peek and some behind the scenes photos for you to enjoy!

All in all, I believe I did a great job at my first official styling assignment and of course you would all agree, wouldn’t you? A big thank you to everyone who helped out (Gavin, Josue, Michael). Thank you Thomas for giving me this opportunity. Ricardo and Bryan – you guys rock! And to all the magazines and photographers out there: there’s a new stylist in town! 😉
