The Parke and Ronen 2019 show heated up NYFWM with muscle beach boys in retro graphics swimwear.

If the sweltering New York City summer wasn’t enough, designers Parke and Ronen steamed up NYFWM  by sending muscle beach boys in an array of pastel colored ensembles; retro graphics striped knits and vibrant swimwear down the runway on July 10th.

For their Spring Summer 2019 collection, the designers drew inspiration from the exceptional beauty of the Malibu landscape, combined with the synthetic culture of LA  as imagined during its over-the-top 80’s heyday.

Those references became clear when I saw one of the models sporting a double shirt with a popped collar or by the sleeveless sweatshirts that totally reminded me of the Baja hoodies.

“We’re picturing the cool-kid skater boy meets the preening peacock from Muscle Beach, with a healthy dose of the Hollywood hustler’s bravado thrown on top.” -said the designers.

And oh my God, did I see cool-kids! From the Russian Lyft-driver turned supermodel Vas Golohvastov (swoon) to the front row “baes” that included actor Andrew Rannells, Insta-sensation Eric Rutherford, lifestyle blogger Justin Livingston and, of course, yours truly.

Backstage, Luke Volker, Yoel Fernandez, Rafael Miller were among the male models flaunting their Parke and Ronen undies making the already heated room even hotter!

Attendees were also able to snap a picture in a Malibu-Ken inspired photo booth as they walk into the show! How clever is that? Of course, I had to take one too…

Parke and Ronen’s style always has an easiness and sex appeal to it, with a retro vibe that I much like. Which is why I told Parke Lutter (one of the designers) that we need to partner up and bring some of it to Dallas Pride! Get ready Dallasites!
