Unlike most people I know, I like celebrating my birthday. Mostly because growing up, my parents made sure it was a special occasion. I would always get a new outfit, a birthday dinner, and, more often than not, a party with all the bells and whistles.
And when it comes to partying, no one does it better than us Mexicans. So without further ado, let me tell you about the epic blowout to commemorate my 33rd birthday.

Festivities commenced on the night of my actual birthday, November 8th, with my favorite DJ, Nora en Pure playing at the Lizard Lounge in Deep Ellum. – It was like the stars aligned for the weekend affair.

Not only did I danced my heart out that night, but I also threw myself a party the following day – probably the best one yet. – If we don’t count my 21st birthday, where I had a step and repeat, a DJ, stage lighting, and I got a Peugeot car as a present. – no big deal!

Anyway, planning any “kiki” brings me so much excitement. I love seeing the final result. This year’s theme was “Pink Eleganza Extravaganza”, in honor of co-hosting the first-ever Daddy Issues party in DFW.
THE SET-UP

Think bubble gum princess meets the most magical rainbow. Using Party City supplies like a couple of these Bright Pink Fringe Doorway Curtain and five Below accessories, I created the gleaming backdrop for my photo booth. Of course, I had to have props. These Metallic Rainbow ones added that element of extra.

For the serving table, I used a Pink Paper Table Cover and Pink Unicorn Piñata from the 99 Cents Only Store. I personalized my Susie Cakes Vanilla Celebration Cake with the “Happy Birthday @manchic” phrase and a bunch of decorations like this Colorful Icons Birthday Candles Set and Star Sparkler. To take it over the top, I added some swirl lollipops and even a White Chocolate Covered Pretzel from Whole Foods.

I also had some colorful macarons courtesy of Joy Macarons, a DFW based bakery specializing in French Macarons and ice cream. If you’re ever in town, you have to try them.

For the lighting, I used these Bright Pink Paper Lanterns and just added some Battery Powered String Lights I found for a dollar. The nightclub effect was accomplished with this Magic Disco Ball Party Lights – totally obsessed with it. It’s operated with a micro USB port, and it’s super easy to install. To add more fanfare, I hung this Fringe Paper Garland that I found on Amazon.
THE LEWK

I was serving you head to toe Pink realness. From the beginning, I knew I had to get Slick It Up’s Candy Sling… It’s not for no reason I hired a personal trainer. Our goal was to lower my body fat, “she” was going to be snatched. The chaps came from some store in Santee Alley in Los Angeles… as soon as I saw them, I realized they will be the thing that will take my outfit to the next level. I topped it off with this LKEYE Transparent Sunglasses and this Party City Purple Glitter Silver Crown – because “she’s” a queen!!!

If that wasn’t enough, my best friend’s boyfriend, Cody Huffman, and my friend Jessica Chen helped me with the makeup. Using Hipdot Glitter Palette and Revolution Forever Flawless Utopia Eyeshadow Palette. The finishing touch was adding Michael’s Multicolored Round Neon Gems.

For my nails, I went for a geometric design using inspiration from a photo I found on Pinterest. I go to this place in Turtle Creek Village called Grand Nail Salon. Not only is the manager Patrick super nice, but also the girls that work there know what they’re doing. My girl is Tiffany. She always comes through with any design I throw at her.
THE KIKI

I’m so proud of all my friends. Everyone showed up on their best version of Pink Eleganza Extravaganza. To kick off the soiree, we sipped on some cocktails and nibbed on some yummy food at my place… Before heading to The Urban Cowboy Saloon in Fort Worth for the first edition of Daddy Issues Party DFW.

My baby boy got us a party bus because ain’t nobody got time to be driving to Fort Worth – that place is far. That’s when the real kiki started. The guys from BABE wine sent me some party essentials – from fanny packs, plastic cups, visors, etc. Not to mention the bubbles. Cheers bitches!

I’ve never been on a party bus before, so I was looking forward to the experience. The most fantastic thing, it came with a dance pole… As you can imagine, I got on it. Watch out Cardi B! LOL

I don’t want to sound condescending, but once at the club, everyone was “living’ for my outfit – just check out the pictures from that night. Anyhow, the music was so GOOD, house beats. I wish more gays would appreciate it. That didn’t stop my friends and me to lit up the dance floor. Werk!!! I can’t wait for the next edition. Oly, you must bring it to Dallas next time.

I’m still over the moon from the festivities. I had such a blast being my crazy self and celebrating with my closest Dallas friends. Thank you to my baby boy Travis Matthews for putting up with all my shenanigans, to my bestie Jose Espinoza for rolling up his sleeves and helping me finish setting up and everyone else that came and partied with me. Love you, mean it!
