Last Thursday, the Stoli Guy Finale 2014 was held at the brand new Space Ibiza in New York City. Twelve talented and good-looking guys from across the country took the stage to compete for the title of Stoli Guy and $10,000.
The judges: singer Betty Who, soft-porn producer fashion designer Andrew Christian and Olympian Blake Skjellerup – how you doin’? watched incredible performances from the semifinalists…
“I’m really excited about the competition and when it comes to judging I think I’m going to the Paula Abdul of the group” Betty Who told me before the event. My buddy and heartthrob Blake Skjellerup was enthusiastic as well, “I hope I’m funny or witty enough,” he said.
First, the guys had to present themselves to the judges wearing Andrew Christian clothes; therefore, the designer was paying attention closely to how they carried themselves on the stage.
The second part was a talent competition, (“talent” in airquotes)! Obviously there were amazing performances like the magic number from Spencer of San Francisco or the amazing tribal dance of Robert from Los Angeles (who was my absolute favorite!). However, not everyone shone under the spotlight; Peter from San Diego looked awkwardly nervous and Michael from Fort Lauderdale, well what can I say? I’ll give him an “A” for effort.
In the end, it was Davy from Boston who took home the 10k and the title of Stoli Guy 2014. His performance of an original song was A-D-O-rable and as a recording artist he would use that money to start his music career with his brother. Robert from LA and Matthew from NYC pulled in a close second and third, and the Audience Award and KeyWest vacation went to Peter from sunny San Diego.
Felicidades para todos los chicos! That means congratulations to all you guys! Yeah, I’m Mexican, I speak Spanish and I also have a THICK “accent” 😉
Not just a pretty face
