If you’re homo, you’re most likely to know the work of Finnish artist Tom of Finland. Excuse me? Did you just say you don’t know who that is? O-M-G! What kind of GAY are you? You should seriously reconsider your homosexuality – Kidding, I know that not everyone is into queer culture.
For my str8 readers and the clueless gay dude, Touko Laaksonen best known as Tom of Finland is the “most influential creator of gay pornographic images”. His men, clad or not, have exaggerated bulging muscles, very large penises, a readiness to engage in any kind of gay sex with tight or partially removed clothing. – No wonder why I like his illustrations.
Obviously Tom of Finland has long been a gay icon and has inspired artist and designers alike for years. In fact, his work was a significant inspiration in the genesis of the RUFSKIN label. So it comes as no surprise that the San Diego-based brand created a capsule collection featuring works of the legendary artist in partnership with Tom of Finland Foundation in Los Angeles.
Head Designer Hubert Pouches had a primary goal when conceiving the capsule: to pay homage to the groundbreaking artist while simultaneously introducing him to a new generation of devotees. The result is a 15-piece collection of active wear that is at once imaginative, alluring, unpredictable and reverent.
Can we just take a moment to admire how provocative the athletic apparel is? Skin-tight leggings that are very much alike to the fetish outfits worn by Tom’s characters plus a lightweight mesh tank top with a full-length print of Tom’s art. Even a very revealing pair briefs with a cut out in the back. – Sold!
To say the collection is designed for those who aren’t afraid to make an impression would be an understatement! But even if you’re not that daring, you can still incorporate one or two pieces into your wardrobe, enough to sex it up. Who knows? You might even end up recreating a scene of one of his drawings. Easy tiger!
The collection is available for purchase now at rufskin.com, RUFSKIN Boutiques (San Diego, New York, Miami, and Amsterdam) and through select partners. But act quickly; some pieces already SOLD OUT!!!
