On Wednesday May 27th, the luxury boutique Otte – committed to discovering and cultivating emerging talent since 1999, presented the second installment of its photo exhibit series “Otte by Gansevoort Presents.”
The work of photographer Eli Schmidt was displaying on this occasion. – I already followed him on Instagram, and always found his photos interesting, plus I loved the way he played with lighting and contrast. Therefore, I was extremely excited to meet him.
Eli’s bold and direct backstage photography blends fashion editorial and documentary sensibilities. Working in color and black and white, Eli’s approach to shooting is an exploration of the often unseen moments behind the scenes at shows in Europe and New York. Plus he has also produced backstage portfolios for Donna Karan, DKNY, J Mendel, Phillip Lim and Perry Ellis – Hey! Eli, how did I missed you last season, I was there as too.
Throughout the night, we enjoyed Peroni beer and LIQS cocktail shots at the fabulous Gansevoort Park Rooftop lounge while dancing to the beats of DJ Elle Lee. There was not a photo booth this time, but that didn’t stop us to strike a pose.
Not just a pretty face
