Christopher Bailey’s Final Burberry Collection at London Fashion Week

Christopher Bailey used the emblematic rainbow print as a primary motif in his final collection as Creative Director of Burberry. During his London Fashion Week show, models strut the runway against a multisensory installation of swinging pendulums.

In addition, the collection revisited past icons and house codes. Including their signature trench coat, the aviator, the cape, and the poncho. All inspired by the brand’s archives from the 80’s and 90’s.  – The catwalk pieces felt nostalgic yet current for the Instagram generation who is always on the lookout for eclectic and branded product.

Rainbow stripes and accents were spotted from head-to-toe. From baseball to puffers, coats, sneakers and more. These pieces are available to shop right away, with all proceeds from the sales going to charities that support LGBTQ+ communities.

It’s remarkable that Bailey dedicated his latest collection to the LGBTQ community. Burberry being such a big fashion house; the reach of this show is tremendous.

‘My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to – and in support of – some of the best and brightest organizations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world. There has never been a more important time to say that in our diversity lies our strength, and our creativity.’ – Christopher Bailey

To sum up I applaud the awareness he brings to the cause, but let’s not forget that the rainbow flag actually stands and represents fighting for equality and acceptance. As long as gay and trans folks around the world continue to be killed and persecuted don’t use the rainbow flag as an accessory, use it as a symbol of PRIDE.
