From the outside, it might be hard to see the Big D as a welcoming and progressive destination. However, for someone who has been here for several years now, it’s easy to see the growth both in infrastructure as well as in forward-thinking.
For example, Dallas Pride has gone from just the parade on September 16th to a full-on weekend of celebrations to honor the city’s LGBTQ community.
From a mindful and clothes-free yoga class and social mixer to a steamy pool blowout, to a tasty Sunday brunch, I made a list of the best events happening in Dallas during this year’s Pride.
On Thursday, September 13th, kick-off Dallas Pride celebrations with an evening of yoga, community support and socializing. This unique fundraising event supports LifeWalk through Team Metro and starts at 7:30 PM at Naked Yoga Dallas, located at 3112 Swiss Ave. Dallas, TX 75204. The suggested donation is $30 and space is limited. (men only) Reserve your spot now!
2. DFW Pride Happy Hour
“DFW Happy Hour” is organized and maintained as a community service by the TI Pride Network, Texas Instruments’ lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and straight ally (LGBTA) employee diversity group. These events are open to all, and everyone is invited. Their free monthly happy hours and other activities are intended to increase professional and social contacts between our groups and individuals and to foster a greater sense of community. Friday, September 14th. 5:30pm to 7:30 p.m. Terilli’s. 2815 Greenville Avenue. Dallas, TX 75206
On Saturday, September 15th share your love for mimosas with He Said Magazine. They are hosting the brunch at Perle on Maple because of its proximity to Reverchon Park, the venue for that Saturday’s Miller Lite Music Festival in the Park celebrations. Make reservations to join them at some point between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for brunch favorites from Exec Chef Wade Burch and a “Bubbles from Around the World” champagne bar.
After brunch, cool down at Dallas Purple SHINE pool party from 1 pm – 7 pm, at SISU Uptown. SISU is a favorite fixture with its gorgeous saltwater pool and deluxe cabanas. DJ Brandon Moses (Dallas) will keep you popping your fan to his unique style of vocal-infused dance music. Then, just when you thought it couldn’t get any hotter, DJ Ben Baker (NYC) will take over the decks and close the party down with his fresh take on house and classic vocals.
BEAT is Saturday night main event for Dallas PRIDE 2018! Impulse Group welcomes legendary DJ PAULO to Stereo Live Dallas. His unique and distinctive tribal sound has planted him firmly amongst the ranks of top DJs, headlining at some of the world’s largest and most prestigious clubs, circuit events and festivals. He played at this year’s Pines Party one night and let me tell you, this is an event you don’t want to miss. September 15th. 9:00pm till 2:00 am. Stereo Live Dallas, 2711 Storey Lane.
