What do Kai Karenin and I have in common? A lot of things, for instance he’s a graphic designer and illustrator just like me, (although I don’t do it as often has he does) but most importantly, we both share a strong devotion for fashion and male models.
It was just a matter of time before I wrote about him. After all, I’ve been fixated with his work ever since I first saw the illustration he did for Rick Day – You know, the one with the super hot model horseback riding? The one he uses as a profile pic for his FB and Twitter? Anyway, in all honesty I never knew that was his until just recently.
As soon as I learned that, I sent Kai some “fan mail” explaining my obsession with his illustrations and my plans of featuring them on my blog. Much to my surprise, he loves my work too and was willing to share some unpublished drawings and he even made some portraits of me. How do I look?
The Swim Suite “features” male models Maikel Castro and Garrett Neff among others, wearing some of the hottest swimsuits for the season like Charlie by Matthew Zink, Ca-Rio-Ca swimwear and parke & ronen… Inspired by instrumental compositions – hence the tittle, Kai tries to represent this with emotions: light, deep and hot just like the summer. – Party nights, hot guys and tanned skin where do I sign up?
“I don’t like to talk, my art can say more than me, that’s why I draw”
Don’t you just fancy how he captured the essence of the sunny days and beachy hair? The rich yet soft yellows or the dark yet glowing blues? Plus the attention to detail is SUPERB! The models look just like themselves… Bravo. I could go on and on describing his illustrations; instead I will let his artwork do the talk.
