When a friend invited me to spend New Year’s Eve with him in Puerto Vallarta, I immediately say: fuck yeah! How could I refuse to sunbathe half-naked on the beach? However, we are entirely different. For instance, he has a job while me; well let’s say I’m werking on it. Also, he doesn’t like to go out as much as I do, so I was very intrigued on how everything will pan out. One thing we both like for sure are boys; I knew we would have a good time.
I arrived early on Tuesday morning. After a little nap, we decided to grab brunch at Coco’s Kitchen – a place well known for it – After waiting for more than an hour we finally got our order. I was not impressed with the service or the food. If you’re in a hurry or starving, this is not the place to visit. Since it was a grey afternoon with a dull sky, we decided to hit up Liverpool, where my friend got some sleek Calvin Klein underwear. We went back to our Airbnb, freshen up a little bit and went for a walk around downtown.
Wednesday morning I had a “business meeting” with Zsolt from Casa Muni, a gay bed and breakfast that just opened. I was greeted with gourmet breakfast, fresh orange juice and a spectacular view of Playa Los Muertos. With Hermès glassware, Restoration Hardware embroidered sheets and original artwork this place is a must visit for the swanky gay traveler. We spent the afternoon getting our tan on at the beach surrounded by beautiful guys wearing very skimpy swimwear – Gosh! What’s up with these guys? Do they even eat? Their bodies were flawless. On our way back to the apartment we stopped by Blue Chairs & Will Gorges welcoming party. The rooftop is brand new and a huge improvement to the dump that hotel is #sorrynotsorry.
On New Year’s Eve, we didn’t do much other than enjoying the magnificent weather drinking on the beach. For dinner we tried out Tre Piatti, the menu looked promising, but it wasn’t as good as we expected. We headed back to the apartment for a quick wardrobe change, missing the fireworks. – It should be noted that by this time I was already a bit wasted. First stop was Oscar’s were the party was in full swing (better than Thanksgiving indeed). Then we made our obligatory stop at La Noche, and I continue dancing until early hours in the morning at CC’s.
New Year’s Day, could someone get some aspirin? After spending most of the morning in bed, we finally got out of the apartment to have brunch at Café San Angel. The place isn’t fancy. However, the food was pretty decent. The sun was shining so we checked out the beach where I met a scruffy and sexy gentleman who happens to live in New York City. What are the odds? For dinner, we did Basilio – one of the newest restaurants in town. Food is excellent, Italian. Service is good, and the place is extremely charming. Afterwards, somehow we ended at Antropology, one of the dick dancing bars. Can we discuss the strippers wearing flip-flops? I don’t get it. I could tell you so much about was going on here, but that’s another story.
Unfortunately, my friend had to leave, and I was left all alone… Well, not really. You know what I mean. That day I had work to do assisting not other than Michael Lucas, yes the same one from Lucas Entertainment. I’m telling you, fascinating things happen in PV. Photographer Ric Chamblee and I followed Michael deep in the jungle for a photo shoot. We enjoyed gorgeous views from the old set of Night of the Iguana and incredible scenery at Vallarta Botanical Gardens, what a hidden gem! Next time you’re in PV make sure to stop by and ask for Robert Price, he’s the man to know.
I spent what it was supposed to be my last day in paradise drinking at La Palapa with one of my friends I met during the trip. He happened to be one of my friend’s ex-roommates when he used to live in Portland. Loco, right? I hate planning ahead. Therefore, I hadn’t bought my return bus ticket. When I tried to do it; everything was sold out. Just my luck! I had to book another night at my apartment (which came in very expensive for my I-don’t-have-a-job-I’m-broke budget) What are you supposed to do when you’re stuck in Puerto Vallarta for another night? You drink! I met “a friend” at Signature by Pinnacle a bar with an incredible ocean view. We had dinner and got invited to a hot tub party at my favorite place Piñata PV Gay Hotel, I could tell you how did it go, but I’m pretty sure you get the picture.
After this trip, all I can say that Puerto Vallarta gets crazier every time, or perhaps its just me? Either way, I can’t wait to be back.
