To say that 2015 was difficult would be an understatement. Most of the year I spent trying to find a full-time job, striving to monetize my blog and pretty much “hustling” my way to the top – whatever that means. Struggling in a city like New York is ten times harder than anywhere else. Have you tried to survive on a dollar pizza slice diet? Not tasty or healthy.
However, not everything was a can of worms. I learned a bunch about myself – like nobody is going to hand me out success and if I want something I have to go and get it. Also, amazing things happened this year, things that are worth mentioning and celebrating.
Top 5 Looks
I’m not surprised to find Mr. Turk among these looks, what can I say? I’m a #turkie. These outfits sump up my style nicely: bold, vibrant and rough around the edges. My hair experienced interesting changes as well. It went from being black, to pastel blue to extremely short, the latter being the most liked.
Prime Collaborations
Throughout the year, I had the opportunity to work with different brands and people. For example, do you remember that time I drank with the CEO of Absolut Elyx? What about the controversial photo shoot my friends and I did for Masc Nation apparel? Let’s not forget when I went backstage at the Parke & Ronen show, you guys seemed to like that A LOT. Additionally, I teamed up with Maritimo Swim and other influencers to celebrate National Swim Trunk Day, and I even got naked – well just half-naked – and in bed with Instagrammer J Tyler Whitmer. I want to do more of that.
The Highlights
This year also marked a huge milestone in my blogger career when the now-dead Details Magazine featured me in their March issue. An exciting moment, that came after working hard for several years and a lot of putting myself out there. Besides I got to shoot semi-nude with my bestie (I’m starting to see a pattern here) for Huntley Homme. As well as becoming a co-host for #gentschat on Twitter, organized by Perry Ellis. Furthermore, I became friends with one of the sweetest and most genuine persons I’ve ever met, Ignis Terram. Together we conceived some special photo shoots, but most importantly, he taught me to believe in myself and never to stop dreaming.
Favorite Destination
For immigration reasons, I spent lots of time in Mexico, and I’m not complaining. My country is wonderful, and there’s still plenty I need to discover. I scuba dived for the first time, in my HOMETOWN. I know! I can’t believe I hadn’t done it before either. I explored San Miguel De Allende for the firs time as well, and I fell in love with Puerto Vallarta. I managed to be in PV three times during 2015, meeting new people, creating connections and partying as I’ve never done it before, each time being crazier than the last visit. I could see myself living and working here if I ever return to Mexico. Margaritas, por favor!
Motto
To not give a f*ck about what other people think of me. Be as creative as I can be. Always be me. Furthermore, less cock more work! #oops!
My Resolutions
There are so many things I want to accomplish in 2016. Here are the most important ones:
– Visit 30 different cities
– Get published on Huffington Post
– Start a fashion/style/photography collective with like-minded individuals
– Work out regularly to improve my body and health (they’re only too many places this pretty face can take me #abs)
– Live in Australia – for at least three months
