In the quest to achieve the “perfect” gay body – after all, who doesn’t like to gaze at six packs and perky pecks? I ventured myself to try CrossFit for the first time. I would be lying if I tell you I wasn’t nervous, but I looked the part with my tasc Performance outfit. So at least I had that going in my favor.

I arrived early to CrossFit Outbreak in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to snap a couple of pictures before the class – because I didn’t want to look all sweaty and agonizing. Paul – the trainer, and eye candy explained that we would start the session with some dynamic warm up which meant running around the block a couple of times carrying a medicine ball. I’m an avid runner, but adding weight to your cardio routine makes it extra harder.

Afterward, we worked on some strength movements that were followed by the WOD (or workout of the day) where I was told to do a certain number of reps of particular exercises such as back squats and barbell power clean as quickly as possible, plus more running. I swear I almost puked, but I didn’t give up. In the end, we cooled down in the stationary bike, and we also did some stretching. Of course, this was my favorite part of the class. #justkidding

As you know, CrossFit is a comprehensive cardiovascular activity; therefore, you need to wear something that’s comfortable like the Carrolton Crew shirt. But not only that, because it’s made out of a blend of organic cotton and viscose from bamboo, this t-shirt offers superior breathability and natural UPF 50+ protection, this it’s crucial since you will be exercising outside. But just so you know, the size runs a bit bigger; I ordered the small size, which felt more like a medium, so keep that in mind when you’re purchasing.

Now, the Propulsion short is becoming my go to when I work out. The exterior is a lightweight stretch woven that’s so smooth it’s almost impossible not to touch it – which could look weird in a room full of bro’s lifting weights. Anyway, it comes with an inner compression short, which I don’t like because I prefer briefs – but that’s just my personal preference. Although, wouldn’t it be nice to have that as an option?

Overall my first time at CrossFit was enjoyable. Paul at CrossFit Outbreak was very attentive and gave me a bunch of direction, which I really needed. But before you jump into the crazy CrossFit wagon, do your research about the gym, make sure the trainer is certified and maybe try a couple of classes to see which one fits you better. Crossfit is fun but can be dangerous if it isn’t done properly. Would I do it again? I’m not sure, but I definitely didn’t mind the hot and sweaty look.
